Get ready to get rocked!
From today, rock fans in the city will witness Vh1 Rock Rules one of the biggest rock activities in India
Last year, the flavour was hip hop, with Flipsyde performing in India for the Vh1 Hip Hop Hustle tour. This year, rock takes over.
Continuing with the tradition of introducing some of the topmost acts in international music, it is bringing Taxiride from Australia, Haven from the United Kingdom and Empire Dogs from Sweden to perform in Mumbai for Vh1 Rock Rules.

The most important point about it is it'll help provide a platform for Indian and international rock bands to interact with each other.
As Navin Fernandes, a senior executive in a multiplex chain and an avid rock music fan says, "We have great rock talent in India, so sharing music is always good for the national rock scene, which isn't very big as yet."
That apart, the excitement of experiencing some of the biggest rockers perform with some the best Indian pros live is all that matters to some.
Mithi Mathani, a firstyear student says, "Those who don't understand rock may call it the 'screaming and shouting genre', but we rock fans find it most lyrical. It's a dream come true for fans like me who can't travel abroad to see live shows!"

While for others, this rock event, co-presented by TVS Apache and Nokia, in association with Mahindra Scorpio and Head & Shoulders, (print partner Times of India, travel and hospitality partner Thomas Cook) is a proof of how rock actually is ruling...
...
Surabhi Roy, a media consultant and a die-hard rock fan says, "Pop has always been the masses' favourite genre of music, but now, rock is taking centrestage."
Vh1 Rock Rules, has been described as 'India's Rock Revolution Begins'. It features three top international bands, 13 Indian pro bands that spans Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.
The tour kickstarts in Mumbai tonight, with Haven and Helga's Fun Castle, followed by Empire Dogs and Vayu on May 25, and Taxiride and Pentagram on June 1. All gigs will be at Velocity. Passes are available at the venue tonight.
Here we come, India!
"We have performed across Europe, UK and the US. Now in India, we will put on a great show. We hope to see everyone there."
Jason Singh, Taxiride
"India has never been the typical destination for upcoming rock bands to tour, so we are looking forward to being the exception!" Gary Briggs, Haven
"It feels super, like reaching nirvana!!"
Sunkan, Empire Dogs
And the Indian curry tastes as good...
"Indian bands are simply superb, and Taxiride is pretty big in Australia! We are a highenergy band, and so are they, so I expect this musical exchange to be full of fun."
Vishal Dadlani, Pentagram
